Terms and Conditions

The hire period for crockery and accessories from Ruby’s Tea Party will be agreed at the time of booking but will usually be 1- 4 days dependent on the day/date of the event.  Any extension to the hire period must be agreed in advance by Ruby’s Tea Party and the customer will be charged extra at a pro rata rate. Please ask for a quotation for longer periods of hire.

The goods shall at all times remain the property of Ruby’s Tea Party. The customer is solely accountable for the goods during the period of hire, from the time the goods are delivered by Ruby’s Tea Party until the goods are collected and accepted back into the possession of Ruby’s Tea Party.

 

Delivery and Collection

Ruby’s Tea Party will deliver to you, usually up to two days before your event. Delivery is free of charge within 20 miles of Newcastle City Centre based on a minimum order of £50.00  For order less than £50 a delivery charge at £0.40 per mile will be applicable each way.   The customer is able to collect and deliver the goods to avoid any delivery charge, this must be arranged  on booking.

When the goods are delivered to the customer, the customer is responsible for inspecting the goods and signing Ruby’s Tea Party’s delivery note. In the event of any shortage or damage, the customer shall note this on the delivery note at the time of collection or delivery. If the customer fails to do this, the goods will be deemed to have been collected/delivered in a clean and undamaged condition. If there is no one available to check the items, again the items will be deemed to have been collected/delivered in a clean and undamaged condition.

When Ruby’s Tea Party collects the crockery, it should be properly packed as found. If Ruby’s Tea Party feels the crockery is not safe for transit and has to re-pack the crockery, this will incur additional charges. This will be charged at 10% of the total cost of hire. Please make sure you place bubble wroap/foam between all plates and use the packaging supplied.

Wash Up Service

All goods supplied by Ruby’s Tea Party are clean and ready to use. You have two options, let Ruby’s Tea Party do the washing up, or if you have washing up facilities, you may do this yourself. Please note that crockery must be washed by hand and cannot be put in a dishwasher or any other commercial machine. The wash up service is available on request at 5% of the total hire charge.

If you decide to let Ruby’s Tea Party wash up for you, all excess food should be carefully scraped away from plates and cake stands, cups should be rinsed and all cutlery should be rinsed. I.e. No butter, cream, sugar, milk deposits should be left on the crockery or cutlery. Should this not be done we reserve the right to make a surcharge for additional cleaning. This additional cleaning will be charged at a further 5% of the total hire fee.

Please understand that the crockery is more fragile than commercial catering crockery and it is your responsibility to inform your caterer/venue of this to ensure minimal breakages. Please take extra care when handling, stacking, washing up and re packing the crockery.

Terms of Payment

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total hire charge will be required to secure your order at the point of booking. This secures all the items you have specified on your order. We will thoroughly discuss your requirements with you prior to booking so that you only need to book items that you need.

The final balance must be paid 21 days prior to your event. This final balance must have cleared ten working days prior to your event.

A £100 refundable damage deposit will also be required when paying the final balance and will be returned once your hire order has been returned and checked for any damage or loss of items. You will be informed within 4 working days if there is any damage/missing items to your order. Shortages and or damage to the hired goods will be charged at the prices below and deducted accordingly from the damage deposit. If you break/damage more items than the damage deposit covers, you will be billed for any extra costs and this will be paid within 5 working days. Damage deposits will be returned within 10 working days, either in full or deducted accordingly to any breakages.

We kindly ask you to ask your venue/caterer, that if they break an item(s) of china that they keep the broken item(s) so that Ruby’s Tea Party can identify what is missing from your order.

Cancellation

If the customer wishes to cancel the order, this must be notified to Ruby’s Tea Party in writing. The customer will lose their 50% hire charge deposit.

If booking is cancelled by the hirer, the following charges will apply;

Liability

Please note: Crockery supplied by Ruby’s Tea Party is old and delicate. Ruby’s Tea Party shall not be responsible for any injury or damage to persons or property arising from the goods, however caused.

Prior Appointment

All our crockery is mix and match, therefore we cannot guarantee specific colours or sizes, we will, however, discuss any theme or preferences with you and aim to supply the most appropriate items.
